It is said one knows a man by his friends. In politics, one also knows a man by his endorsements. In what might have been the non-event of the 2020 election cycle, Planned Parenthood recently endorsed Joe Biden for president.
Outlets dutifully reported this “news” though many of them did note that the endorsement of a pro-abortion candidate by the nation’s number one abortion seller was not unexpected. Biden and Planned Parenthood are bedfellows from way back.
But it’s still worth detailing exactly the kind of organization Biden would bring with him were he to win the White House.
Planned Parenthood has $2.2 billion in assets and receives about $600 million in tax money every year, but because it is a “charity” it cannot endorse candidates or fund campaigns. To do that, the Planned Parenthood Action Fund was established, and it announced last year that it would spend $45 million in the 2020 elections, working to unseat the president and regain control of the Senate. That’s three times what it spent trying to elect Hillary Clinton in 2016 and eight times its spending in the 2018 midterms.
The number of abortions Planned Parenthood commits increases each year, even as the national abortion rate is as low as it’s been in decades. The organization continues to open mega killing centers to keep those numbers high, while also actively fighting in court any regulations aimed at keeping women safe or protecting late-term or disabled babies from abortion.
And recently, amid the nationwide protests against racism, the organization that pretends to be so “woke” also was called out for its mistreatment of black employees.
Laura McQuade, the CEO of Planned Parenthood of Greater New York, was ousted after being accused in a letter from 300 former and current employees of financial malfeasance, bullying workers and worsening what the letter calls “institutional racism.”
“Planned Parenthood was founded by a racist, white woman,” the letter asserts. “That is a part of history that cannot be changed. While efforts have been made to undo some of the harm from institutional racism, many of these issues have worsened under McQuade’s tenure.”
Besides working to elect radical Democrats and killing more than 300,000 unborn children every year, what else does Planned Parenthood do?
I’m sure you remember when Planned Parenthood spread the lie that abortion was just three percent of its “services,” and even the pro-abortion Washington Post called them out on it.
You may also recall former CEO Cecile Richard saying on national television that Planned Parenthood provides mammograms. The problem was, not a single Planned Parenthood affiliate was equipped with a mammography machine.
The “breast exams” it does provide consist of a manual check for obvious lumps, and Planned Parenthood, according to its own annual reports, did nearly 32,000 fewer of those in the 2018-2019 fiscal year than the previous year.
The number of Pap smears to detect cervical cancer was also down, from 274,145 in 2017-2018 to 255,682 last year. Planned Parenthood even peddled less contraception: 2,556,413 last year, compared to 2,620,867 the year before.
The services that increased were HIV testing, vaccines for human papilloma virus and “miscarriage care,” though it’s hard to imagine who would go to Planned Parenthood after losing a child.
Our friends at the pro-life organization Live Action recorded numerous Planned Parenthood affiliates saying they do not provide prenatal services.
And although their annual report shows an increase in adoption referrals, from 2,834 to 4,279, Jim Sedlak of the American Life League said such a referral can consist of a single phone call to an adoption agency. “Or maybe they’ll just write down the address of an adoption agency,” he said. But even that minimal effort counts as a “service.”
In 2015, the Center for Medical Progress began releasing its own undercover series that showed, without a doubt, that some Planned Parenthood affiliates were harvesting and selling the organs, tissue and skin of their abortion victims. Profiting from the sale of these body parts is a crime.
Other videos in the series show abortionists blithely talking about changing abortion procedures to get intact organs, and hoping that lucrative arrangements with tissue buyers would lead to luxury cars. Who will ever forget Planned Parenthood senior executive Dr. Mary Gatter saying “I want a Lamborghini.” Prices for the Italian sports cars start at about $200,000.
Although both the House and Senate held hearings on the videos, and referred Planned Parenthood to the FBI and U.S. Department of Justice, the only people who have been charged so far in the case are the two courageous pro-lifers who infiltrated the organization and caught its crimes on tape. The Justice Department announced in 2017 that it was opening an investigation and that may yet bear fruit.
In announcing the Biden endorsement, Planned Parenthood’s acting president, Alex McGill Johnson, said without irony that “this is literally a life and death election.” Those might be the first words out of her mouth whose veracity I didn’t question.
This election is life and death not only for the children in the womb, and the mothers Planned Parenthood kills through its negligence and indifference, but also for the soul of our nation.
